It's one of the most extensive municipalities in Granada, with a height that arrives, from the 850 meters on the level of the sea, until the peak of El Veleta with 3.398 meters.
The history of Dilar begins a lot before the arrival of the Arabs to the Iberian Peninsula; not in vain toward 1850 a hunter when were going after a wounded rabbit and were trying to take it out of the burrow discovered an important dolmen of prehistoria times surrounded by a cromlech formed by stones of considerable height, very close to the Rural House.
Toward the year 1125 the king D. Anfonso I the Fighter, king from Aragon, arrived in the town of Dilar, establishing his camp at the sight of Granada, protected by the Sierra and dedicating his time to the reorganization of his hosts and harassing the enemy. D. Alfonso I the Fighter returned to his kingdom of Arag6n and the Christian didn't return to the town of Dilar until the year previous to the conquest of Granada, that was in 1492.
